RICK MUTH NAMED CALIFORNIA SMALL
BUSINESS PERSON OF THE YEAR 2003
The U.S. Small Business Administration has named Rick
Muth, President of ORCO BLOCK COMPANY, California’s Small
Business Person of the Year. Mike Trueblood, Director of the Family
Business Council at the College of Business and Economics at California
State University nominated Rick for the award.

The company having over 200 staff
has plants in Stanton, Riverside, Banning, Oceanside, Highland,
Romoland and constructing a new facility in Indio.
ORCO products have been used on such projects as the Huntington
Library in Arcadia, San Diego Wild Animal Park, Irvine Spectrum
Phase II and many other high profile projects throughout California,
Nevada and Arizona. |
Sandy Sutton, Director of the Santa Ana district of the U.S. Small
Business Administration said, “I am so excited to have
Rick Muth represent California. ORCO Block is a family business
success story and Rick is a great example of someone who has used
the success of his company to impact an industry and assist other
small businesses, as well as his community.”
Rick is former Chairman of the National Concrete Masonry Association
and past President of the Stanton Boys and Girls Club. He founded
USAOwned/USA Made, Inc., a buy American products group.
Rick is a graduate of Santa Ana College, University of Southern
California and Chapman University.
ORCO Block Company was established in 1946 by Pete and Mary Muth
and besides concrete block, ORCO manufactures interlocking concrete
pavers, landscape retaining wall products, and they produce a line
of mortars and grouts in their blended products division.

Rick celebrated his award with all his staff by hosting a
